Reactivating Level IIII CMCC Certified Court Clerks Certification

Beginning September 1, 2010, the TCCA Education Committee has passed a new rule that allows any clerk who has achieved Level III, CMCC status, but has become inactive, to reinstate their certification. This change, making Level III status more closely reflect a college degree, is a positive step forward in the Municipal Court Clerk Certification Program.  After completing the program, at any point you may reactivate your credentials; thus, you can never lose your certification.

A person at Level I and Level II will still lose his or her certification if he/she does not timely file annual proof of educational hours.  A clerk that loses his/her Level I or II certification would have to start the program over.   However,  any clerk who has completed Level III will only need to complete additional training hours, as opposed to starting the program from the beginning. The hope is that this new rule may incentivize clerks that have completed Level II to take the final steps to complete the program and achieve CMCC status.

The steps for reactivation will include providing proof of 40 approved educational hours. Six of those hours must come from a TMCEC Legislative Update and all 40 hours of education must have been obtained within the proceeding three years from when requesting reactivation. Certificates of attendance, along with a renewal application, must be submitted to TMCEC.  Please take note again that this new rule only applies to Level III. Certified Clerks interested in more information can visit the website for an application to request reactivation of a Level III Certification.
