Minimum Qualifications


  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus five (5) years of experience in process serving, law enforcement, Level II (or higher) Texas certified Security Officer, or code enforcement, or closely related experience.


Licenses or Certifications:

  • Valid Texas Class “C” Drivers’ License

Driving Requirement:


  • This position requires a Valid Driver’s License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.
  • Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City’s Driver Record Evaluation Standards.

If selected as top candidate for this position you must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check to be hired and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and Family Violence Convictions.

Pay Range

$22.40 – $25.48

Hours

Monday-Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Please note: Schedule may include days, evenings, nights, weekends and/or holidays.

Municipal Court is a 24 hour, 7 days per week business operation.
Schedule/location may change based upon business needs.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.


  1. Locates and delivers processes to individuals with outstanding court fines, fees, and costs to the Municipal Court; makes contact with individuals and explains the steps necessary to resolve their court case.
  2. Locates accurate residential and /or employment addresses for individuals with outstanding capias warrants and/or capias pro fine warrants to create door hangers and distributes to defendants’ residences.
  3. Initiates special projects to clear class “C” misdemeanor warrants and/or commitments capias warrants and/or capias pro fine warrants.
  4. Provides the Austin Police Department with warrant worksheets.
  5. Performs administrative duties.
  6. Conducts investigations.
  7. Writes and submits reports.
