Court Administrator - City of Manor

The City of Manor is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Court Administrator. Under the general supervision of the City Manager or designee, the Court Administrator shall work in conjunction with other court personnel, judges, and prosecutors to perform a wide variety of court case management functions including applying laws, policies, and procedures as appropriate. Maintain court files and records and oversee day-to-day operations.

Essential Functions:

NOTE: Regular attendance is considered an Essential Function for this position
Essential Functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensure the efficient, lawful, and cooperative operation of the Municipal Court pursuant to Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 30; City of Manor Charter; and applicable City ordinances. 
  • Maintain the court docket, keep minutes of the court proceedings, authenticate acts, administer oaths, process subpoenas, summonses, capiases, and capias pro fine warrants. Process expungement cases and appeals. 
  • Manage court schedule for hearings, trials, and dockets, and coordinate with judges, prosecutors, and police officers as needed. 
  • Serve as custodian of official court records and funds and provide case management of all criminal cases filed in the Municipal Court. 
  • Maintain organization and flow of court records; ensure proper retention, maintenance, and disposition pursuant to federal and state laws. 
  • Assisted with supervisory activities, including selection, training, guidance, counseling, and performance evaluation. 
  • Schedule and assign staff tasks to support departmental missions. Review work performed by staff for accuracy. 
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports in compliance with state law and as requested. 
  • Recommend goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. 
  • Timely correct financial errors and request bond refunds. 
  • Maintain and update court website content. 
  • Aid other City employees, City officials, outside agencies, and the public. 
  • Exercise considerable initiative, judgment, and extensive discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information. 
  • Convey a positive professional image by action, communication, and appearance. 
  • Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job. 
  • Contribute to team effort by performing other duties as assigned. 

Education/Experience Required: 

  • High School diploma/GED required. 
  • Associate degree in public or business administration or related combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 
  • Municipal Court Clerk Certification II required. Certification must be maintained to continue employment. 
  • Five years (5) of experience in court work, preferably in a municipal setting or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position's duties. 
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience. 

Other Requirements:

  • Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record, as defined by City policy. 
  • Proof of citizenship and/or eligibility to legally work in the United States.
  • Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test.
