The Opportunity

The City of Coppell Municipal Court is seeking a dedicated Deputy Court Clerk to undertake essential front-facing clerical responsibilities, including customer interaction and professionalism, in addition to managing communication with various stakeholders such as city departments, attorneys, judges, law enforcement, and media via multiple channels. The ideal candidate will possess strong detail orientation and patience, along with a clear understanding and respect for Texas laws while maintaining a neutral stance on personal opinions. 

The Deputy Court Clerk will perform a wide range of technical and complex legal and clerical duties, requiring substantial knowledge of court processes, procedures, rules, and authority, with frequent contact with the public and adherence to confidentiality standards. They will also handle court appearances, data entry, correspondence processing, cash management, and maintain effective interaction with various stakeholders.

Schedule Commitment
Regular attendance is essential to meet the needs of the public. The court's hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.


Pay Plan
This opportunity is non-exempt and on Pay Grade #6. The full Pay Grade Range is shown for growth and development opportunities within the grade. Salary determination is supported by budget availability and qualifications of the candidate to maintain internal equity. 

Hiring Range: $19.44-$21.99

Min $19.44 ($40,436.03) 

Mid $23.81 ($49,519.81) 

Max $28.19 ($58,625.63) 


Candidate Engagement Plan

March 25-29: Candidates invited to participate in the next step of our hiring process are asked to complete a facilitated DISC Assessment and invited to attend in-person interview panels.

Eligibility

Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 2+ Years experience in public customer service, data entry, cash handling, and deposit preparation.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Working knowledge of Municipal Court operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computers and software applications.
  • Knowledge of cash handling practices and processes.
  • Familiar with legal definitions and terminology and with the preparation and processing of court documents.
  • Ability to effectively handle customers on the court efficiently and courteously,
  • Ability to use a variety of common office equipment, including personal computer, ten-key adding machine, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, and the ability to digitally document all Municipal Court data.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with members of various city departments, attorneys, and the public,
  • Ability to meet deadlines related to court and trial appearances and filing dates, including daily posting requirements.
  • Ability to assess situations, remain calm and react appropriately.
